Council Membership
You are a member of the council if you exhibit a general interest, support development of or participate in our recreational activities and sports programming. In addition when you attend 4 monthly meetings in 12 consecutive months you are eligible to vote in council matters and help shape the community offerings. The WCRC holds meetings the second Monday of every month at 7:00 PM. Meetings are open to the public with the exception of July, this time is spent catching up with the program coordinators. The meetings are located at the
New Windsor Community Room, across from the
New Windsor Fire Department. We welcome and encourage the community to support and participate in our monthly meetings.
Executive Board
If you are passionate, dedicated and committed to advancing recreational activities and sports programming in the community than you may find an executive board position of great benefit. Board members are responsible for advising, governing and providing oversight of policy and
direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of WCRC so as to support the organization’s mission and needs. Executive board members are elected into their position on an annual basis. The WCRC calls for election nominations typically between October and November of each year. Nominations can be made by anyone and self-nominations are accepted. Nominees need to accept nomination during a council meeting and be able to serve the entire one year term once elected. Program Coordinator
Our programs are run solely by volunteers and we welcome the community to consider applying for a program coordinator position. In general program coordinators work in cooperation with the WCRC Executive Board and are responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of all aspects of our recreational activities and sports programming. Working with the public and community at large program coordinators are focused on creating a positive and safe learning environment where participants can acquire new skills, develop existing capabilities while experiencing comradery among their peers. Our successful program coordinators display positive attitude, and promote a fun atmosphere while serving as a mentor and role model to all participants and their families. Our coordinators are individuals committed to serving the community while further developing transferable leadership and management skills. Coaching
Coaches also have the opportunity to be of service to the community by providing guidance and leadership to our participants. The positive impact that coaches have on the lives of young people is an intangible reward and impossible to value. WCRC coaches are responsible for working in cooperation with and at the direction of program coordinators to support activities including practices, games and tournaments. Successful coaches are able to effectively teach skills and game strategies through organized practices while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all players, giving each child an equal opportunity to participate. Serving as a mentor and role model to all participants and their families; our successful coaches lead through sportsmanship conduct, posses strong communication skills with the ability to encourage parent involvement and coordinate their assistance. Coaching provides a perfect opportunity for those individuals with experience in child development, youth sports training or physical education programs, who are committed to serving the community while further developing transferable leadership and management skills.If you would like more information on how to become a part of the WCRC as a coach please
